We are looking to recruit an outstanding Software Engineering Lead to help us deliver our frictionless car hire experiences on a global stage. You’ll be responsible for leading one of our three engineering teams who are working hard on deconstructing and solving  elements of the car hire puzzle, where it’s our mission here at BookingGo to help reduce some of the biggest problems within car hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line manage a team of engineers
  • Embed and lead on Agile practices and values within your team
  • Be proactive in driving improvements in engineering practices across the Engineering discipline
  • Work with the team to size and estimate work
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices of the department
  • Lead and coach Engineers
  • Help engineers write high quality robust code
  • Strong sense of ownership and the quality of the solutions the team produces
  • Guide teams in helping meet our defaults principles for Architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
  • Manage and report on progress of the work in the team
  • Interest or experience in Ecommerce
  • Guide the team to build, design and deliver high quality solutions in line with guidance and best practices of the department
  • Collaborate with the team and others to deliver high quality solutions
  • Keep abreast of existing technologies and be able to apply these to a variety of projects as applicable
  • Write, review and take responsibility for clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Supporting live products in a DevOps environment
  • Have fun

Skills we are looking for

In order to deliver our goals we work across a broad set of technologies that includes micro-services, mobile app development and integration with 3rd party device/IoT SDKs and platforms.

We are looking for a superb and enthusiastic Team Lead who will lead an agile team to push the boundaries on engineering brilliant solutions and contribute to shaping our new future. 

You will be a full stack engineer with deep understanding of building scalable, reliable services and wider experience of native mobile platforms, mobile device and IoT SDKs.  You’ll have demonstrable experience leading teams to successfully deliver services-based solutions that include a mobile app integration component.

We expect you to have the energy and passion to deliver using a whole range of technologies and have a solid understanding of engineering principles so that you can mentor and develop your team.  We also expect you to take the lead and line manage a team of Engineers. 

We’re looking to free up our developers to work on interesting problems, not waste their time doing repetitive work, so if you have experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery that’d be a bonus.

We have a quality first mind-set, we’ve found that we get better quality code if it is developed using TDD or BDD. We’d like you to champion these kind of development methodologies in your team.
