The challenge

As the largest online ground transport platform, BookingGo has a significant global insurance business aimed at offering its car rental customers peace of mind.

We have bold ambitions to revolutionise insurance for and, bringing customers and partners hassle free products tailored to all their needs. BookingGo needs a highly motivated insurance expert to develop our insurance commercial team.

This role will involve delivering our insurance customer experience and financial goals, building up our insurance commercial ways of working and the commercial side of launching new products and services for our customers.

Key responsibilities

You will be accountable for the commercial performance of our insurance products across several markets to drive customer satisfaction, volume and profit growth. By working with other departments across the business you will support development of new propositions for customers. A key focus for all of is making the customer experience hassle free so it goes without saying this applies to insurance too.

This includes developing and delivering winning strategies and products in the different markets you are responsible for to meet different customer needs. This involves working with and through our regulated insurance entity and third-party insurers, as well as our product and operational teams, to deliver for our customers. We aim to greatly expand our product range and depth for customers across the travel industry and beyond and this role will play an important part in doing this.

Day-to-day commercial decision making will be key to being successful in the role. This includes pricing, promotion, and quality levers. It may also involve negotiating with third parties from time to time to deliver our customer and financial targets across multiple jurisdictions.

The investments we are making in our insurance team bring the opportunity to help develop and build up a dedicated commercial team. This will also include developing our existing ways of working and building new ones, in particular improving our risk-based pricing approaches.

Naturally all this needs to be done in a way that complies with all external and internal insurance regulations and policies.

Wider responsibilities

Innovative thinking and collaboration with other teams in the business to develop new products for our customers and take hassle out of our existing products.

Understanding our markets, customers and supply partners to anticipate market trends and identify and deliver opportunities for growth

Supporting the development of improved MI, tools, ways of working and training programmes

Helping build up our insurance team and our insurance capabilities.

Skills and experience

The ability to think strategically about our products and markets to grow and improve our customer proposition

First class commercial problem solving, analysis and decision-making ability, with proven capability to take high levels of ownership and accountability and operate independently

The ability to process and act on detailed commercial data

Confident, clear and concise communication skills

Deep understanding of operating successfully and compliantly in a regulated environment

Strong influencing and negotiating skills

Determination to achieve results in a high energy environment

Ability to thrive under pressure, deal with ambiguity and get things done

Experience in building up teams and ways of working

Strong presentation skills

Essential criteria

Educated to degree level or equivalent

At least 10 years experience including manager level insurance roles and commercial responsibility

Experience of P&L responsibility and commercial innovation, pricing and negotiation

Desirable: Experience of working in or with multiple countries and cultures
