About the role

Since joining, the two businesses have been hard at work integrating people and technology to ensure we collaborate more effectively and do what’s right for the customer.

As part of the business integration, an all new product group has been formed to design and build a dedicated car rental service for The team has delivered a huge amount in less than a year, including an all-new car rental experience in the mobile app and redesigned website for customers. Sales have doubled via this channel in a year, and the product continues to evolve and solve customers’ problems by offering a seamless booking and trip management experience.

This group has grown from a handful of engineers in April 2018, to 6 teams across 2 locations, with close ties to dozens of other product teams in Amsterdam (’s headquarters) and Manchester (home of

Now that the foundations have been laid for this new product, we’re looking to expand the product leadership team in this group to help us unlock the value in the huge opportunities we have in closer integration with Just a sample of those currently huge untapped opportunities:

  • Developing a solid loyalty car hire proposition for “Genius” customers
  • Integrating with the Payments platform
  • Building a robust platform of APIs that help other teams in work with car rental supply and booking information
  • Exploring what a hotel + transport package could mean for customers
  • Personalising the car rental experience based on the knowledge of a customer’s upcoming trip

We are looking for a creative, commercially minded, get-stuff-done product leader who can organise multiple product teams and keep them focused on building the right things, at the right pace.


Key responsibilities:

To successfully deliver the right you will need to:

  • Develop a deep understanding of current and future customer, business and supply partner needs and translating that into a solid vision and proposition.
  • Work with your Principal Product Owner and other key stakeholders to refine the overall strategy for your product to deliver against those needs
  • Be accountable for developing and delivering any associated monetisation strategy/ies
  • Help build your own team based on the strategy you define and make sure your team is on-board: a happy team will do great things
  • Work with your team of developers, designers and testers to design and deliver experiences which delight our customers, supply partners and our own BookingGo end users. You’ll also be fine to throw away ideas that simply don’t work
  • Be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of your product, including wider integration with, plus third-party providers and supply partner systems as needed. You’ll work closely with our go to market function to ensure your releases and scaling are a success
  • Communicate with your key stakeholders to keep them up to date and bought into your product phasing and development
  • Work with agile coaches and your team to drive continuous improvement
  • Keep an eye on our competitors, supply partners and wider technology initiatives to ensure we are ahead of the curve and exploring new ideas as needed

Ideal Skills & Experience

3+ years’ experience working as a product owner or similar role

Pragmatic, proactive and progressive

Start-up mentality and rapid learning

Naturally curious and excellent problem-solving skills, with demonstrable robust experience especially in the discovery phase

Proven experience of working effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including third party providers

Highly collaborative

Understanding of NPS and levers to influence it

Outstanding communication skills; you also value the art of listening

Strong analytical skills

Lean and agile approach: the art of doing as little as possible to learn as much as we can. Agile experience therefore essential
