Test Engineer - Mobility

About the role

You will be member of our “mobility” team – a product innovation group building the next generation of transportation solutions for our customers. Our team’s mission is to build apps & services that get our customers around using multiple forms of ground transport: everything from taxis to shuttles, trains and buses.

18 months ago, we launched the brand Rideways, the best way to get to & from the airport as easily as possible. We are now rapidly expanding Rideways as well as building additional, new transportation products.

The team is an internal start-up based in London, and shares the upsides of being part of a bigger company - but with the speed, drive and autonomy of an independent, early-stage business.

  • Mobility as a separate team in start-up mode, in its own offices in London
  • Cross functional agile teams own their products in a Continuous Delivery DevOps environment
  • A full continuous delivery pipeline using Bamboo, Git and Artifactory

Skills we are looking for

We are looking for a superb and enthusiastic Test Engineer who will push the boundaries on engineering brilliant solutions and contribute to shaping our new future.  We expect you to have a love and passion for testing, new technology and have a solid understanding of testing web based solutions.

  • Proficient in testing software with an eye for detail
  • Good knowledge of test processes and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of test processes and methodologies
  • Ability to create clear, concise and readable manual test scripts both automated and manual
  • Good understanding of test automation frameworks and tools, such as Selenium or Appium
  • Experience of Mobile App or Web based testing
  • Able to ensure cross-browser (web) or cross-device (Mobile App) compliance

 Other beneficial skills

  • Understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Agile
  • Ability to pair with developers to implement Acceptance Tests
  • Knowledge of code quality and performance analysis tools
  • Good knowledge of testing web services
  • ISTQB qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Work embedded within an Agile team
  • Use the appropriate range of test methods and tools to ensure a robust and high quality solution is delivered
  • Champion quality of our products
  • Advise engineers and others in the team on what to test including edge cases
  • Push the boundaries on test automation, exploratory testing and best practice in the team
  • Work with the team to create acceptance criteria by analysing features and requirements
  • Analyse quality and continually assess risk to ensure that high quality solutions are delivered
  • Sense of ownership and the quality of the solutions you produce
  • Adhere to the defaults principles for Architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
  • Collaborate with the team and others to deliver high quality solutions
  • Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies and be able to apply these to a variety of projects as applicable
  • Work with the team to size and estimate work
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices of the department
  • Write, review and take responsibility for clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Supporting live products in a DevOps environment
