Rentalcars.com is part of the third largest e-commerce company in the world (Amazon and Alibaba are bigger) and we are the world’s largest car hire booking service, arranging over 8.5 million rentals a year in 50,000 locations in 180 countries across 40 languages.  Our mission is “Helping people experience the world” and our business and market sector is growing rapidly.

Engineering is a multi-skilled group of over 200 people responsible for providing the technology to enable the Rentalcars.com business.  It is a fast paced, dynamic, exciting and driven environment providing services on a 24x7 basis.  We provide all the touch points for our online customer experience through a market leading app, a great web site and all the software services and business systems to manage our customers and products.   Our goal is to create a great customer experience across all platforms which help us deliver growth for our business.

Skills we are looking for

We are looking for a superb and enthusiastic Business Analyst who will be working with our Architects, Principals and Product teams to shape the future of our new Rentalcars.com platforms and services.  We expect you to have strong analytical skills, understand technology and be able to collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation. 

  • Solid business analysis skills, techniques including writing user stories, acceptance criteria and documenting technical requirements
  • Proficient in working within an Agile Product based organisation
  • Solid experience of modelling system workflows, components and data models
  • Solid experience of running workshops
  • Experience communicating concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels within organisations
  • Confident personality to help influence decision-making at all levels within an organisation
  • Ability to simplify complex problems into component parts and evaluate systematically
  • Evidence of problem solving and providing creative solutions

Other beneficial skills

  • Experience of BDD
  • Experience of working on web based systems
  • Experience of working with data and SQL
  • Understanding of monitoring and analytical tools such as Kibana
  • Good understanding of e-commerce business models
  • Good understanding of A/B testing

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of gathering requirements and working with other cross functional teams
  • Collect, understand, and communicate the business requirements for products and services translating these into user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Elicit, analyse and document processes, workflows and model
  • Facilitate workshops to expose stories, identify acceptance criteria and construct release backlogs
  • Manage the release backlog and work with delivery teams to keep it up to date
  • Work with the team to estimate backlog items and ensure optimal flow through the delivery process
  • Gather, analyse, and report on usage data to benchmark and measure the performance of the product.
  • Ensure that the appropriate solution governance, compliance and resilience is built into solutions
  • Sense of ownership and the quality of the solutions you produce
  • Adhere to the defaults principles for Architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
  • Collaborate with the team and others to deliver high quality solutions
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices of the department
  • Write, review and take responsibility for clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation
